The Holy Scriptures are a revelation of God, coming from God, and flowing through and to man. They are the only inspired and infallible divine revelation ever given to man and are the supreme authority in all matters of faith and morals. The Scriptures were plenary-verbally inspired. The Holy Spirit breathed upon the human vessels the very thoughts and words He wanted written. This word flowed through the human channels involving their emotions, personalities and frames of reference, without violating such. Yet the Holy Spirit guarded and preserved each thought, phrase and word from any error, omission or inaccuracy. (Conner, K. J. (1979). The foundations of Christian doctrine.)
The Scriptures give us the revelation of the eternal God-head, who has revealed Himself as one God, existing in three Persons, even the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; distinguishable but indivisible in essence; co-eternal, co-existent, co-equal in nature, attributes, power and glory.
There is but one eternal Godhead, who is one undivided and indivisible essence; and in this one essence there are three eternal distinctions, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
(Conner, K. J. (1979). The foundations of Christian doctrine.)
The Holy Spirit is the third divine person of the eternal Godhead, co-equal, co-eternal, and co-existent with the Father and the Son. It is His ministry to convict and convert man as well as to reveal the Son and the Father to the believer. Since the glorification of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit in all His glorious operations is working through all who believe on the Father through the Son.
This is why the present era is known as the age of the Holy Spirit. (Conner, K. J. (1979). The foundations of Christian doctrine.)
The Scriptures clearly teach that the original man was the direct result of a creative act of God. Being the masterpiece of creation, man was created in the image and likeness of God as a tripartite being, consisting of spirit, soul and body. God created man to have a relationship with Him, to be made into His image and likeness, to share in His function of dominion and to be fruitful and reproduce Himself. Though the entrance of sin seemed to frustrate God's purpose for man in creation, this purpose will be accomplished through redemption. (Conner, K. J. (1979). The foundations of Christian doctrine.)
